Trip to the Oklahoma City Museum of Art

Yesterday I got to take a day off school and make a visit to the Oklahoma City Musuem of Art (OKC
MOA) to have colleges look at my portfolio and the portfolios of my peers.
I was told to dress nicely - since I am presenting myself to colleges - but I also had to consider I'd be riding a school bus and walking around downtown, so I wasn't exactly in the mood to wear heels and a blazer.
When I am told to look "business", I go for solid colors. That way, the "statement piece" can be smaller things that people may or may not notice - for me it was my studded shoes and sequin pockets.

Featured in Jan 17th IFB Links à la Mode!

I'm so happy to have been selected this week!

Looking Forward

Edited by: Emily of Sugar and Spice We’re already halfway through the first month of 2013 but that doesn’t mean bloggers aren’t still in reflective mode: creating resolutions for the coming year and looking to up-coming trends, whilst also looking back on the trends of 2012. There’s also a reflective element in many of the posts this week over blogging and how that might change over the coming year, not just on a personal level but more generally too. There’s also a good dose of travel inspired posts this week for those who are trying to beat the January blues and jet off somewhere sunny. And if you’re not jetting off somewhere away from the cold, make sure to check out the great how to layer below:

Simple Winter Layering

Now that it's mid-winter, I thought it'd be a good time to throw out some tips on bundling up.
Layering does not always have to be an intricate thing. Sometimes it can be as simple as adding a few pieces.
How I winter-fied my look:
1. Add a thick knit scarf
2. Add a neutral jacket
3. Add a beanie
Take advantage of cold weather: Remember all of those gloves, hats, thick scarves, jackets, and coats packed into drawers and hung inside closets? This is the time to pull them out! Because most of these pieces are so thick, you don't need much to have a complete look and stay warm.

Winter Jewels // New blog url

Hello and attention! I have changed my blog url to www.ofmiceandtrend.blogspot.com

I'm not always the one to throw on tons of jewelry, but right now I really like thin chains - I think they are pretty and feminine, but can be worn in casual ways as well.
This winter I've also been loving cool colors - greys, creams, & soft blues.

I wore multiply necklaces so they got a bit tangled at one point...
